I woke up the next day and opened my eyes. We stayed at Mario's after the game. The family was out visiting Mario's brother for a few days. There laid a still, awake Sidney, smiling. "Good morning, sleepy head," he said softly, smiling.
"Morning," I greeted back getting closer to him. "Were you being a creeper watching me sleep?" I asked.

"Mayybee," he grinned.

"You're silly," I said pressing my lips to his.

"Mmmmm," he smiled pulling away. "You sleep good?"

"Yup. I'm moving in!"

Sid laughed, "I'm sure Mario wouldn't mind another family member."

"Good!" I said with a fist pump. Sidney smiled and kissed me. "Shower timeee," I sung getting out of the tangled covers. I got into my bag and pulled out my tooth brush and clothes.

I walked into the bathroom and got out a towel shutting the door behind me. I was happy Sidney never pressured me into letting him join, or sex each night. He definitely was a different boy. Which made me realize this is what Justin wanted. Me to be with someone who was just like him. He always wanted what was best for me.

As I stepped into the warm shower, I let the water run down my body and kind of just stood in there taking in the moment. There was nothing better than a nice hot shower. After I got out, I brushed my teeth and dried off. My hair was up in a clip and I threw on clothes I brought over. I wore a pair of dark skinny jeans, a purple cami, and a flannel. I dried my hair and put on make up before leaving the bathroom.

Sidney grinned as I walked out, "You never fail at making yourself beautiful." He kissed my lightly on the lips.

"Aren't you a sweet heart," I smiled fallowing him out of his room. He led me downstairs, into the kitchen.

"Wanna eat here, or go out?" he asked opening up the fridge.

"I'll cook," I smiled. "Just gotta help me," I winked.

"Will do," he smiled. He grabbed the pans and butter, along with eggs. He found the pancake mix and bacon. He scrabbled the eggs as I mix the pancakes. He threw a shell at me, getting it stuck in my hair.

"Crosby!" I yelled throwing a hand full of pancake mix at him.

"You're going down, Miss Raina," he grinned. He chased me around the kitchen, facing off on the other side of the island. "Scared?" he asked, with pancake mix dripping off of his face.

"Nope," I smiled throwing the eggs sitting next to me. He wanted to be mad, but couldn't help but laugh when he grabbed the pancake mix and pour it over my head. "DICK!" I yelled pulling him over the counter. He grinned and kissed me roughly.I climbed over the counter and sat on it as he continued to kiss me. Even with our gross selves, we got heated with the kiss.

"What is going on?!" I could of swore Sidney got whip lash. "Sid! What did you do to my kitchen?!" Nathalie yelled.

"Uh, we'll clean up! No worries!" he said with a scared look.

She couldn't help but laugh. "You better, Sid." We waited for her to leave and started cracking up.

I got off of the counter and started to clean up the mess. "God, Sid, you should know better!" I said trying not to laugh.

"Speak for yourself!" he glared at me, trying to hide a smile. After a good hour of cleaning, we headed to his room for a second shower. As we got in his room I pushed him against the door and kissed him. He didn't hold back. His tongue grazed my lips, separating them and tangling his with mine.

I pulled away with a grin. "Gotta get my shower," I winked. Sidney leaned against the door and sighed with a, Please come back look. As much as I wanted to, I had to get clean, and also, not go too far, too fast.

I got in the shower for the second time that morning. I got out and didn't even bother doing my hair or anything. I found a pair of sweats I brought and a hoodie. I dried my hair and put it in a bun. Sid came back into the room with the same look. "You're still beautiful," he smiled, kissing my nose.

I smiled as he pulled me on the bed next to him. "You're amazing," he whispered.

"I learn it from you," I whispered back and he kissed me lightly. "I'm the luckiest girl in the world."

"And that makes me the luckiest boy." I blushed; he always makes me blush. "You're coming with my on New Year's Eve, right? For the winter classic?"

"You want me there?" I asked excited.

"Of course, baby. You're my good luck charm!"

I giggled, "Then, I just can't pass it up!"

\\.::Sixteen::.//

After morning skate that day, Sidney decided to take me out for lunch before heading back for his pregame nap. He walked me to the car and opened my door. He got in and drove around Pittsburgh.
“Well, you guys looked good this morning,” I said as we were driving.
“Yeah, Ty has been really great for us. I’m glad he’s holding up the fort for Marc. You’re coming right?”
“Of course,” I smiled. I really didn’t want to stay anywhere alone after that dream. It was only a dream right? Then I thought about how the man at Joe’s Crab Shack was him in my dream. It was Kenny that night when Sid was playing Boston. My life just really can’t get any worse.
Sidney pulled up to the side walk and we got out. “I like just ate not too long ago,” I laughed.
Sidney just smiled, “Well, I figured we’d do something to pass time till you got hungry.” I gave him a confused look as he led me into a shop. We were in South Side so we were bound to do something nuts. I looked around and seen it was a tattoo parlor. I’ve been thinking of some ideas lately and mentioned it to Sidney once; just once.

“What are we doing here?” I asked with a smile, getting excited.
“Why else would we be here, silly? We’re getting a puppy!” Sid said holding my hand.
I punched him playfully as he led me through the small shop. “Are we getting a tattoo?” I asked excitedly.
“Well, you are,” he laughed. “You’ve been thinking, right?” he smiled. I nodded looking at the books. I had two tattoos already and I loved them. Justin took me to get them and get got matching ones. I wanted to get one for him, so when I looked at it I’d smile and think of every great memory. I wanted to keep it small though.

“Raina, I never expected to see you around here,” a man said to me.
I looked up and seen Andy from high school. He played hockey with Justin and was a pretty close friend to him. “Hey!” I smiled hugging him. “Yeah, Sid just surprised me and brought me here.”
“Well, what a great surprise for all of us,” he laughed. “How has everything been?”
“Great,” I said smiling. “A lot better than before, I must say.”
Andy smiled, “That’s good. You kinda disappeared the past few years.”
I nodded and shuffled my weight, “Uh, so you doing tats now, eh?”
“Yuppers,” he said excitedly. “You looking for one?”
“Yeah, I want to get something to remind me of Justin,” I said shyly.
Andy smiled, “Sounds perfect. You have an idea?”
“Kinda,” I said nervously. I wasn’t sure what to pick. This was forever and I wanted to make it perfect. “I want a tree with full leaves on one side and none on the other, but at the bottom.” It reminds me of how one half is still going on with life even though the other side’s gone.
“I’ll draw something up and you tell me what you think,” Andy smiled. We headed into the back while he threw something together; he was an amazing artist. “So, don’t be rude,” he said as we sat down, “who’s your friend?”
“Oh, sorry,” I blushed, “Sidney this is my friend Andy from high school. Andy, this is my boyfriend, Sidney.”
“Nice to meet you,” he smiled shaking Sid’s hand.
“Nice to meet you as well,” Sidney said professionally.
“So, how’s the season coming along?” Andy asked starting the drawing.
“Pretty good, nervous about that outdoor game,” he chuckled. “We’re gonna be freezing our nuts off,” he said causing us to laugh.
“Yeah, I’d be fucked,” Andy laughed. The boys talked mostly hockey, Andy sharing about his high school years and Sidney talking about the NHL. Andy finished up the drawing and handed it to me. “Well, what do you think?”

I stared at it with a huge smile, “Its prefect, Andy!”
“Anything for you, Raina,” he said as I hugged him. He gave me all the low down to keep it healthy and we swapped numbers to keep in touch.

“Thank you so much, Sid,” I smiled and kissed his cheek.
“You like it?” he asked holding my hand.
“Love it! But, you really didn’t have to do that for me.”
“I wanted to. We had to pass up the time somehow so we could be hungry!”

\\.::Fifteen::.//

Christmas break was over and Sidney was back to playing hockey. I was still off from work and haven’t seen Sidney since my family’s dinner. I was sitting on the couch doing bills after my nap. I was waiting for Sidney to come over and the repair man. My sink was leaking and I couldn’t get anyone to help since the busy holiday.
There was a knock at the door and I walked over to get it. I opened it to see the man from Joe’s Crab Shack. He also looked like someone; someone I knew well.
“Hello,” I greeted him as he shut the door behind him and locked it.
“Hey, Raina,” he grinned.

Then it hit me; Kenny.

“Kenny, why are you here?” I asked with a shaky voice.
“To fix your sink, babe,” he said backing me up into the corner.
“Get away, from me,” I hissed.
“You’re not happy to see me?”
“Get out!” I cried trying not to let tears fall down my face.
He just grinned, “I just wanted to make sure you were minding your own business and staying out of the law.”
“I don’t plan to go to your hearing, okay?” I just wanted this man out of my life.
“Smart girl,” he said pulling out a knife. “I mean, I stayed away for three years. Let’s keep it that way?” He slid the soft side of the knife around my neck. “Or you’ll be like Mister Lane.”
“Why did you kill him?!” I shouted. “Why did you kill your own fucking brother?”
He still had that stupid smile on his face, like he was proud. “Well, I’m proud of it,” he laughed. “And I’m happy to see your smart little head figured it out; I killed Justin.”
“Bastard,” I sobbed. “Why though? Why did you kill someone you grew up with, and was always there for you?”
“Because Justin had everything I couldn’t have; you. Raina, you stupid cunt, you’re all I wanted. I tried to make you give me a shot, but you were too busy fucking the big time boy. Justin didn’t really love you.”
I took all the strength I had, and to it into a punch to his face. “Take that back, Kenny. Take it back!” I cried. “Justin loved me! More than anything!”
“But you let go of his hand to text your buddy. And his last moments perfectly fine were…. Shot.” He grinned. “Bang! Just like that,” he laughed. He stuck the knife into my side and dug it into my skin cutting up my side. “And if you don’t stay away January 26, you’ll end up just like Justin,” he said slowly. He threw the knife on the floor and walked out.

I fell to the floor grabbing my side. I started sobbing and held the knife. I stabbed the floor as if it were Kenny’s face. I suddenly felt light headed and pass out.

“Raina! Raina!” I felt someone shaking me. I sat up and held my side starting to cry.
“Sidney,” I cried, leaning into him. “Kenny’s going to kill me!” I realized it was a dream; a nightmare.
Sidney held me tight and shushed me. “It’s alright, baby. No one’s here to hurt you.”
“He came over! He’s going to kill me if I come to the court hearing!” I started to breath heavily and my face was soaked in tears.
“Raina, it’s alright, honey. Nothing’s going to happen to you. You’re safe with me,” he said stroking my hair.
“It was so scary,” I said whipping tears away.
Sidney just held me tight. He came over after practice and we took a nap together. I guess I woke him up during our sleep. “Let me go get you water,” he said starting to move.
“Don’t!” I yelled grabbing him. He couldn’t help but laugh. “I don’t want to be alone.”
He smiled and kissed me, “Let watch a movie, sweetheart.”

The next morning, I woke up to the smell of breakfast. Sidney walked back into the room with eggs and pancakes on a tray with water. “Good morning, baby,” he smiled, setting the tray over me and kissing my forehead.
“Morning,” I said softly with a smile. I fixed my hair and looked at the amazing breakfast Sid made. He really was the best. “Thanks, babe,” I said as he sat next to me and kissed him. “So, what’s going on today?” I asked getting ready to take a bite of my eggs.
“Well, tonight we’re playing the Sabers. You wanna come to morning skate so you’re not alone?” I nodded as I took a drink. “Okay, well I’m going to clean up the kitchen and you finish and get a shower and I’ll be right after you,” he said kissing me.
“Good deal, sir,” I smiled. I finished up my food quickly and hoped in the shower. I hurried so I could make myself look decent. Sidney walked in as I put on a robe and my hair up in a clip. He kissed me as he stripped to shower. I dried my hair and curled it, leaving my bangs straight. I quickly put on makeup and searched for clothes. I threw on a pair of jeans, boots and a fancy black sweater. Sidney walked out of the bathroom in his towel and glanced at me.
“Either I take forever, or you’re just fast!” he laughed.
“Little bit of both,” I smiled wrapping my arms around his neck. He grinned and kissed me lightly.
“I have to get ready, beautiful. I have to look almost as good as my girlfriend.” I laughed and slammed his butt.

I walked out of the bed room and looked around the place. Sidney did a good job cleaning. He really was a great guy. I have so much to thank him for in life. I sat down and Millie tried to jump up my lap.
“Dog, jump on me and you’ll get it,” I sternly told her as I turned on the news. Sidney short came out of the bed room and I turned off the tv and fixed my sweater. “Ready to roll?”
“Sure am,” he said handing me my coat. We headed to the Mellon and Sidney led me inside. He didn’t tell the media about us yet, and I wasn’t sure on what his plan for that was, but it was whatever to me. He was all to myself, so what did I have to worry about?

During practice I sat by myself, close to a guard. Someone sat next to me and I looked over to see Vero. “Hey,” I smiled.
“Hello,” she smiled back. “How are you doing?”
“Pretty good, yourself?” I asked, trying to avoid bringing up my thoughts.
“Can’t complain. How was your Christmas?”
“It was really great,” I smiled thinking about Sidney. “Yours?”
“Fantastic,” she said with a huge smile. I love going to Canada for Christmas. It was so beautiful and exciting. Maybe Sid can take you up there some time,” she winked.
I blushed and smiled, “Maybe.”
“Are you going to the winter classic? You’d have a blast! And the falls are there! It’d be perfect,” Vero gushed.
“Sid didn’t ask, and I don’t want to invade his space, ya know? I doubt I’d go anyways.”
“Well,” she stated, “if he does, you take him up on that offer! Because it’s going to be amazing!”

\\.::=Fourteen=::.//

I'm so sorry for not updating anything lately. I've had writers block all month. And now that my brother deleted my sims, I've been going crazy so I'm forced to realize I need to update more. As far as my Patrick Kane story, I feel terrible I haven't got on that in two months. But an update is coming for that. And Staal is always slow for my brain for some reason, but I'll get on the ball. I promiss. Now on with the story.

“Raina!” my mom finally said hugging me. “Who’s your friend here?” she asked excitedly, even though I mentioned Sidney once before.
“Mom, dad, this is my boyfriend, Sidney. Sid, these are my parents, Kegan and Mitch,” I said politely.
“Nice to meet you,” Sidney said shaking my mom and dad’s hands. My dad looked like he just met God.
“Nice to meet you too, Sidney” my parents said together. “Hope you’re ready to meet the rest of the wild family,” my mom smiled.
“I can’t wait!”
“Raina!” my cousin, Kendal, said hugging me. “Who’s the man?” she asked winking.
“Oh, this is my boyfriend, Sidney. She’s my cousin, Kendal,” I told Sid.
“Crosby?! Oh, wow. I never thought I’d see the day I would meet the Penguins super star!” she said shaking his hand. Kendal was 25 but seemed too excited over the smallest things.
Sid laughed and shook her hand, “Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Can you help me with the baby’s outfit?” Kendal asked. “I have three but I don’t know which to pick.”
“You would,” I laughed. “Wanna come, Sid?” I asked taking his hand.
“I guess I don’t have an option,” he said rolling his eyes and laughed. We walked into my old room and seen Kendal’s daughter, Joy, who was only 7 months old.

“Hey, Joy bug,” I said picking her up. “Awh, this one!” I yelled pointing to the white fuzzy dress.
“That’s what I thought,” Sid laughed.
“Can you dress her while I help Aunt Kegan with dinner?”
“Sure thing, ma’am,” I said setting Joy on the bed. Kendal left the room and Sid sat on the edge of the bed while I changed Joy.
“She’s beautiful,” Sidney smiled staring at her.
“Yeah, I can’t wait to have my own,” I smiled, buttoning her dress.
“I know what you mean.” I looked up at Sid and smiled to myself. I finished and picked her up. “Awh, aren’t you just beautiful?” Sidney said tickling her stomach.
She let out a giggle and I kissed her head. “Hey, Sid,” I said nervously, “I’m sorry if my family overacts over you. They’re young and knows what you’re all about.”
Sidney laughed. “Raina, I understand! I got through it every day. And let’s face it, it’s not every day you bring an NHL player home to mom and dad.
I smiled and kissed him. “Let’s roll,” I said as Sidney opened the door. We walked out and my mom looked over at us.
“They leave for a few minutes and come back with a baby!”
“I doubt it happens that fast,” I said sticking my tongue out.
My mom laughed and sat down next to my cousin, Pat. “So, Sidney, where are you from? Sorry, my husband’s the sports fanatic, not me.”
Sidney laughed sitting next to me at the table as well. “Its fine, I’m from Cole Harbor in Canada. Halifax.”
“Ooh yeah? I’ve never heard of it. How is it there?”
“Small!” Sidney laughed. “It’s really nice there though. I bought a beach house and it laid back.”
“That’s nice. You have siblings?”
“Yeah, a sister, Taylor. She’s 13.”
“She play hockey too?”
“Yup, goalie,” Sidney smiled. “She’s pretty thought to beat, even for me.”
“Must run in the family,” Kendal laughed.
“I guess,” he smiled. “It is supposed to snow tomorrow?”
“Not that I know of,” I said playing with Joy’s hair.
“Good, I have to be at the air port at four to go home for Christmas.”
“You’re leaving me!” I said sticking my lower lip out.
Sidney’s face soften, “I’ll call!”
I couldn’t help but laugh, “You better, or I’ll have to call Max and see if he has offers for me.”
“That’s not funny,” Sidney said making me giggle.
“Neither is you not calling.”
Sid rolled his eyes. “Sidney, would you like anything to eat? There’s a lot of food to choose from.”
“I’m fine for now, but I’ll be sure to get some pasta later.”
“You and your damn pasta. Don’t you get sick of that?” I said rolling my eyes.
“Don’t you get sick of shrimp?”
I had no come back. “So, mom, where are we going for Christmas Eve?”
“We’re going over Jen’s for dinner and then we’re having Christmas here.”
“Good deal,” I said turning to Sid. “Do you need a ride to the air port?” I asked, hoping to see him before he leaves.
“If you don’t mind,” he said looking at his phone. “Excuse me for moment,” he said politely and walked to another room to answer his phone.
My mom made sure he was out of hearing range before she spoke. “He’s a keeper, Raina,” she smiled.
“I guess he’s alright,” I teased. “He’s really one of a kind. I haven’t met someone like him who changed my mind about the whole dating thing. Sid’s just… prefect.”
My family smiled as Sidney walked back into the room. “Sorry, that was my mom. She wanted to let me know my grandma’s picking me up, since Taylor has something going on.”
“It’s fine. Family comes before anything,” my mom said getting up to check to see who else was there.
“Wanna meet more of my family?” I asked Sid.
He nodded and held my hand. “I really like your mom. She’s sweet.”
“My dad’s cool too. He’s just busy talking to his bother probably.”
Sidney laughed, “I understand. The night’s still young.” As we went through the evening, my dad came around with his brother and talked to Sid about sports and tried not to ask too many hockey questions. They were all getting along well and it was around one and I decided we had to get home so Sidney could get ready to head back home.

We said good bye to everyone and Sidney wrapped an arm around my waist going to the car. “That was so fun,” he said smiling.
“I guess so, considering you played every game there imagined and ate everything,” I laughed.
“I’m going to have so much to work off after break.” I laughed and rolled my eyes, getting inside the car.

\\.::=Thriteen=::.//

My family’s Christmas party was in two days, and I had to get the nerve to ask Sidney to meet my family. I invited him over for dinner at my apartment for crab legs. I made sure everything was perfect. I wore a pair of jeans with a long black sweater. Millie was begging for food as Sidney knocked at the door.
“Down, girl,” I said pushing past her. I opened up the door and seen Sid standing there with beautiful white flowers. “Awh, Sid!” I said hugging him.
“I thought you’d like these,” he smiled. “How have you been babe?” It’s only been four days since we’ve last seen each other.
“Great, but I missed you,” I said wrapping my arms around him neck and kissed him. It feels so different but amazing.
“I missed you too, baby,” he said steeping inside. “Oh, God, crab is my favorite!” he exclaimed looking at the counter.
“Good,” I laughed. “They’re my favorite too. Have a sit down,” I said pointing to the chairs at the island.
“I’ll have to take you to Joe’s sometime.”
“Ah, I love that place,” I grinned.
“So, how about Army’s having a Christmas party tomorrow, and I need a date,” Sidney said smiling and pulling me in between his legs and wrapping his arms around my waist.
Perfect timing. “I’ll go,” I smiled. As he started to smile and say something, I put my finger over his full lips. “Only if you come to my family’s Christmas party the day after tomorrow,” I grinned.
Sidney chuckled, “You have me sold, Raina.” He placed a kiss on my lips and smacked my butt. “But, you have to agree on something.”
“Common, I already agreed on going to Colby’s!”
“You have to introduce me as your boyfriend.”

My body almost shut down. Sidney Crosby, the face of the NHL just asked me to be his girlfriend. And in the strangest way. I had to say yes. This was the only guy who has changed my life since the most tragic moment ever.

I just nodded my head and smiled, like a bimbo. “I’d love to, Sid,” I finally said.
“Had me worried,” he said just before his lips crashing onto mine. This kiss lifted me off my feet. It was full of love and passion; but mostly love. My heart was open and vulnerable. I couldn’t wait to start my new life with this man.

After dinner, Sidney headed home and told me he’d be over at five to pick me up. Work dragged on forever till then. I flew home and got ready. I curled my hair, fixed my make up, and put on new clothes. Sidney sent me a text and told me to wear something sexy. I could only wonder.
I dug through my closet looking for my sexy Santa outfit. My cousin forced me to wear it last year at her party, so I kept it around just in case. I finally found it and hurried to put it on. I used to feel so comfortable putting things like this on, but now, I felt so awkward and like everyone were staring making rude comments.

Sidney knocked on the door and quickly looked in the mirror making sure I looked good. I opened to door and Sid’s eyes widened. “Wow, you might not make it to the party,” he said warping his arms around my waist and kissing me.
“Well then what’s the point of wearing this?” I asked grinning.
“True, you just have to make all the guys jealous that you’re mine,” he said kissing my check. “Let’s roll.” I locked the door and Sidney walked me to his Range Rover. He helped me across the newly fallen snow and opened my door.
Colby didn’t live that far, so the drive was short. Sidney took my hand and walked inside to Colby’s. “Hey, brah,” Sidney yelled to Colby who was hanging around Mel talking to Max. Mel was in a green elf outfit with her hair curled. There were a whole bunch of other girls I didn’t know dressed up.
“Whoa! Raina, I didn’t know you dressed like that,” Colby said wrapping his arm around my waist.
“Don’t get used to it,” I said rolling my eyes.
“Sid, you mind if I take her for a spin around the block?” he winked.
“Bite me,” I said wiggling out of his grasp. Sidney just chuckled and kissed me. He introduced me to everyone as more people strolled through the door. I went up stairs to go to the bathroom and as I was coming back down, I seen Jordan walking down the hallway. That kid had looks.

I tried to pretend like I didn’t notice him to make it awkward, until he bumped into me. “Oh, sorry, Raina,” he grinned.
“No, it’s my fault, I was kinda zoned out,” I laughed.
Jordan smiled as our eyes connected. He looked up and seen the mistletoe about us. “Well, it’s tradition you know,” he said putting his arm around my waist.
“Funny,” I said trying to push past him. Instead, he gripped tighter and moved into kiss me. I brought my hand up. “Look, Sidney and I a couple now.”
“Golden boy, eh?” he chuckled.
“Yes, Jordan, golden boy,” I mocked. “I’m sorry, but I can’t do that.”
Jordan’s face softened. “I’m sorry, I should have respected you,” he said looking at his feet. “I just believe in luck.” He then walked away. I sighed and walked back to the kitchen where Sidney was talking to a group of girls with Max. Max had his arm around Sidney, laughing with the girls. Sidney was laughing along too, but seemed forced into the conversation.

“Common, Sid! You have all these lovely ladies, and you say you don’t want to be tied down. Crazy, man! Sam, here, would love to spend a night in your bed,” Max said digging him in the side.
Sidney was just rolling his eyes. I walked behind the girls, smiling at Sid. I knew he wasn’t going to fuck me over. He peeked over the girls and smiled. “I’ll make you a deal, Max. If I pick one of these girls, you have to rub Colby’s feet, tonight.”
Sidney told me how Max is always trying to hook him up with some girl. Finally agreeing, would make Max go crazy. “Deal, brah!” he yelled shaking his hand.
Sidney grinned and looked at all the girls. I had no doubt in my mind what was going on. He pushed through them and pushed me against the counter, kissing me hard. “Found my girl,” he said into the kiss.
I giggled, tangling my fingers in his curls. “Not fair!” Max yelled.
“I wore these socks during practice this morning!” Colby yelled, laughing.
“Fuck you, Crosby!”

The next day, I woke up at home with a killer headache. I rolled over and looked at the clock. The day care was closed for Christmas break. It was 12:36 and I was in need aspirin. I got out of bed and walked to the kitchen. I seen Sidney crashed on my couch all stretched out. A smile crept onto my face as I walked to the cabinet.
I walked over to Sid and rubbed his head. “Morning, super star,” I whispered kneeling down.
Sidney’s eyes fluttered opened as he groaned, “Morning.”
I gave him a light kiss and he sat up, pulling me onto his lap. “You could of slept in my bed, silly,” I said cuddling up to him.
“I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable,” he yawned, playing with my tangled hair.
“You’re my boyfriend, ya know,” I grinned.
Sidney just smiled. We were silent for a good five minutes, a comfortable silence. “You’re so beautiful, Raina,” he said softly.
I just returned the smile. “I’m gonna clean up and shower. You going back home?” I asked standing up.
“Yeah, I’m going to shower there and change. I’ll come back right after,” he said standing and stretching.
“Good deal.” Sidney pulled me into a hug and pressed his lips onto mine. “See ya soon, kiddo,” I said walking him to the door. I walked him to the door and he stole one more kiss. I hurried and cleaned the apartment and jumped into the shower.

I did my hair, makeup and went to pick out clothes. I pulled out an outfit and threw it on.

I texted Sidney to tell him not to get too dressed up. About an hour later I hear a knock at the door. I saw Sidney in a black sweater and jeans. God, his pants fit his just right.
“Hey, beautiful,” he said kissing me.
“Hey, love. What’s up?”
“Nuffin, just waiting to meet my beautiful girlfriend’s family, that’s all.”
“Awh, they have no idea you’re coming. So, be prepared for a freak out,” I laughed.
“I can’t wait!” he said pumping his fists in the air. I giggled as he picked me up. “Why the fuck are you wearing flip flops?!” he asked staring at my feet.
I could hold back a laugh, “Why the fuck aren’t you wearing flip flops?!”
“Because I like feeling in my toes, babe,” he laughed setting me down. “When we leaving?”
I looked at the clock. It was 5 and it started at 6. I figured we’d leave early since it took 40 minutes to get there. “We can leave now, it’s up to you.”
“Sure thing,” he said handing me my coat. We walked to Sidney’s Jag and he opened the door for me as any other time. The car ride was long, but we turned on the radio to listen to Christmas music. “Ah! Mariah Carey!” Sidney yelled. “She’s my favorite,” he grinned.
“She is pretty bomb,” I laughed. Sidney decided to start singing along.
“Baby, all I want for Christmas is you!” I couldn’t help but laugh. “I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There is just one thing I need!” He sang me the whole song, and by the end, my checks hurt from laughing.
Every song that came on, we sang together. By the time we got to my parents, we were laughing so hard we couldn’t open the door, or sit up straight. “Common, babe, pull it together!” I said grabbing Sid’s hand.
“Right on captain!” Sidney said getting out. We walked to the door and I rang the door bell and walked in. “I’m nervous,” Sidney said squeezing my hand.
“Don’t be,” I said kissing his cheek. “Mom! Dad! I’m here!” My parents ran to the door and gasped at the sight of Sidney.

The next day was Friday, and I was so glad to away from work. I went home and as I was getting something to eat, my phone rang. I smiled as soon as I seen Sidney’s name pop up. “Hey, Rocky,” I said smiling.
He chuckled on the other line, “Watch out, you could be next.”
“I’d own you, Crosby.”
“Psh, you only wish. How was work, beautiful?”
“Fine, how was your flight, considering I seen that amazing game,” I said smiling.
I could tell he was smiling, “Thanks, it’s was alright. I’m about to leave for the arena now. I was wondering if you wanted to come.”
I took a moment to think, “How about tomorrow we do something?”
“Sound good. I’ll call you after the game and make plans. You’re gonna watch it right?”
“Of course, silly,” I said smiling.
“Good! Well, I’ll talk to you later tonight.”
“Okay, good luck, Sid.”
“Thanks, Raina. See ya.”
“Bye,” I hung up and grabbed pop corn shrimp out of the fridge. It was my daily snack. I threw them into the convection oven and sat down to watch TV as Millie jumped on my lap. Something came on the news that made me cringe. It was about Justin’s death and how Kenny’s court hearing was coming up. They didn’t find enough proof it was him till a year after Justin’s murder and of course they take forever to actually take charge and find out if he’s guilty or not.
I turned it off quickly. I didn’t want to see his face or hear anything about him. As soon as the TV turned off, my phone rang. I jumped and covered my chest. I seen it was Justin’s mom. I haven’t talked to her in about three months. It was strange timing as well.
I answered it slowly, “Hello.”
“Hi, Raina, how are you?” she said in a soft tone. She really went downhill after Justin’s death. She went on a drinking binge and his dad pretty much went crazy. Justin was the favorite of the family.
“I’ve fine, just got home from work. How are you Mrs. Lane?”
“Nothing has changed, dear. I’m still Patty,” she laughed. “I’m hanging in there. I was wondering if you were going to go to the court hearing.”
I froze. I’ve been trying to avoid it for months. I kept getting letters but I don’t want to face Kenny. “Um, I don’t think I can get off work for it,” I said biting my lip.
“Listen, Raina, I know it’s though for you to do something like this but we need you. We know Kenny did it, but no one was there like you were. We have two others who saw it but-“
“Then use them, Patty!” I cried. “I’m sorry, but I just can’t. It hurts to look at him.”
“Honey, it’s alright. You just have to come day.”
“Patty, you don’t understand! The thing’s he whispered in my ear would scare anyone for life. And I plan to keep those words to myself.”
Justin’s mom was quiet for a good 30 seconds. “I’m sorry, dear. I just feel like you have the whole story and if you know something we don’t it would help even more.”
“Its fine, I’m sure there’s enough evidence that proves he was at wrong. Is Matt going to be there too?”
“Yes, he is. I think everything’s going to be figured out once and for all. I just feel like such a bad parent for letting this happen,” she said chocking up.
“Don’t. It’s just the people Kenny hung out with. They were fuck ups and there’s nothing you can do about that. Kenny was always an asshole and you can’t blame yourself for that. You were a great mom, Patty. Look how amazing Justin was!” I said smiling, think about my boyfriend and how he was prefect in every way possible.
“Justin was the perfect kid, and he treated me like gold. I can’t thank God enough for blessing me with him. I just pray that he’s alright in heaven.”
“I’m sure he’s doing great, hun. He had you in his life, he couldn’t ask for anything more.” I talked to Patty for about 30 minutes catching up on what was going on in our lives. I didn’t want to tell anyone about Sidney, because I was still having trouble excepting it myself.

I sat in front of the tv watching Sidney take the ice and get ready to face the New York Islanders. Watching games alone really sucked. I always thought about having a roommate move in with me, but I was scared for some reason. It’s strange; I’m scared of people more than anything else. I decided to cal Lilly, an old friend from high school. She was married now with a two year old daughter. I need some kind of company.
“Raina, how have you been?!” she asked answering the phone excitedly.
“Great, you,” I said smiling.
“Can’t complain, what are you doing home on a Friday night?”
“Eh, sitting around watching the hockey game.” I felt the other line go quiet. Everyone knew I stopped everything that I found enjoyable that I used to share with Justin. Just because he died, I thought I had to cut off all of our enjoyments together.
“Oh yeah?” she said after a few seconds. “Who’s playing?”
“The Pens and Islanders, I was wondering if you wanted to come over and watch.”
She thought for a second before answering, “Sure! Let me get Wendy ready and we’ll be right over. You don’t mind me bringing her do you?”
“Not at all, you know I love kids,” I said smiling. Does Sid like kids? Whoa! Don’t think like that.
“Super, I’ll see you in about 20 minutes.” She hung up and I ran to the fridge to find something to cook. I started making pasta and a salad. Soon, Lilly and Wendy came knocking at the door.
“Hey guys, come in!” I said smiling.
“Thanks for having us over, Raina. It means a lot.”
“No problem, where’s Dan?” I asked taking Wendy’s baby bag.
“He’s visiting his brother in Seattle for the week. This is a really nice place you got yourself here,” she said smiling and admiring the kitchen.
“Thank you,” I smiled. “I’m planning on moving next month though. I’m thinking about going back to college and actually being a teacher and such, ya know?”
“Yeah, I know what you mean. What grade level do you want to work with?”
“Probably kinder garden or first, you know how I love the little ones,” I said picking up Wendy.
Lilly smiled, “You’d be an amazing mom.”
I blushed, “Thanks, I hope so.” Normally I’d run off crying or start yelling about a thought of a kid without Justin, but the feelings past, and I was looking forward to actually starting a family some day. “So, sit down and relax. Watch the Pens beat up someone,” I grinned.
“When did you start watching hockey again?” Lilly asked as I set Wendy down so I could keep an eye on the noodles.
“Well, that’s a story and a half,” I laughed.
Well, then you must spill!”
I got nervous. “Please, don’t freak or let anyone know. I told Jay, but he’s a guy, ya know.”
“Totally understand. So, what’s the story?”
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. “Well, I took the day care kids to see a practice at South Pointe, and well, I kind of met up with Sidney Crosby.” Right there was enough to send Lilly through the roof. I filled her in with every detail and about how he offers me to games, dinner, and even plans for tomorrow.
“Wow, you got yourself a keeper! You know, I’m just happy you’re moving on. I would go crazy seeing you alone forever, Raina,” She said hugging me. “And the face of the NHL is the perfect choice, dear!”
“Well, I was thinking on a way of telling my family, but I’m not sure how. But Our Christmas Party is coming up, so I might invite him,” I said nervously.
“Do it! It would be perfect timing. And I’m sure your family would have no problem accepting him,” Lilly said with a grin. The game went on and the Pens lost 4-2. Lilly was still hanging around as Wendy fell asleep on the couch. We were talking about me moving and a few ideas on housing, when I heard a knock at the door.
“The gig is up,” I said going to answer it. I figured it would me my neighbor asking if I needed my car washed, since he was only ten, and needed money during weekends. I opened the door and seen Sidney standing there with a smile. “Hey!” I said as my face lit up. “You played good tonight, you’ll get em next time,” I said letting him step inside.
“Thanks,” he said pulling me into a hug. “Sorry you had to watch such a game.”
“It’s not your fault,” I said roughing up his hair. “Sid, this is my friend from high school, Lilly. Lilly, this is my friend Sidney.”
“Nice to meet you,” he said shaking her hand.
“It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. Crosby,” she said politely.
“It’s Sid,” he grinned. “And who do we have here?” He looked at Wendy with a chuckle.
“That’s my daughter, Wendy. She’s two, and extremely tired as you can see,” Lilly laughed, fixing her daughter’s hair.
“Well, she’s beautiful,” Sidney said taking a seat next to Lilly, as I sat a chair. We talked for about 20 minutes, before Lilly had to go. As she shut the door behind her, Sidney turned to me with a smile. “So, what are our plans for tomorrow?”
“It’s up to you,” I said yawning.
Sidney grinned. “I have a perfect idea. How about I pick you up around 11?”
“Sounds good to me, just don’t make it something crazy, Crosby.”
“I’ll try, babe,” he said giving me a kiss. “I’ll call before I come.”
“Sweet.” I walked him to the door and he pulled me close to him and kissed me with full of passion. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Sid,” I said with a huge smile.
“I can hardly wait.”

The next morning, I was wide awake. I took a shower and straightened my hair. I wore a pair of jeans with white boots with black strings and a long with sweater with a long black jacket. After finishing my makeup, I got a text from Sid saying he was on his way. I smiled and fixed up my house before I left. I was excited to see where Sid was taking me.
I got another text saying he was waiting outside. I couldn’t help but get butterflies. I gave Millie a pat on her head and ran out of my apartment. I saw Sidney waiting outside of his car. “Well, you look beautiful as always, my dear,” he said kissing me.
“Thank you,” I smiled as he opened the door for me. He ran to the other side and pulled out of the parking lot. “So, where ya taking me,” I asked holding his hand.
“Secret,” he grinned. “You’ll love though, so don’t worry.”
“Blah, no fair, Crosby!” He just smiled and turned on the radio. It was a quiet ride with small talk. Sidney parked in Station Square and we walked to a place filled with small shops. It seemed to have everything and it was my favorite get away.
We walked around in a few stores and Sidney decided to do some Christmas shopping while he was there. “You want to grab something to eat?” he asked after an hour of shopping.
“Sure,” I said as he led me around.
“You let chocolate?” he asked swinging his arm a bit.
“I’m a girl, of course I do,” I said smiling.
“Great,” he said smiling as we walked inside the Melting Pot. “Ever go here before?”
“No, but I’m glad we’re here now,” I said excited.
“Great,” Sidney said as a waiter came over. He sat us in a booth and I looked at the menu.
“Can I get real food before we try crazy shit?” I asked looking through the delicious food.
“Of course,” Sidney said smiling. We ordered a meal and after eating, we got to start on making desert.
“I’m so excited!” I said waiting for our stuff to arrive.
Sidney couldn’t help but laugh at me, “I can tell, Raina.”
They brought over a few things to start with and I seen brownies sitting on the plate. “Chocolate covered brownie, Sid!” I said getting excited and shoving one in my mouth. “So good,” I said chewing. “Eat one,” I said shoving on in Sidney’s mouth.
“Thanks, Raina,” he mumbled. “These are bad ass,” he laughed. We played around making different foods coated in chocolate.
“This is the best date by far,” I smiled.
“Well, we can have more of these best dates, ya know,” Sidney said smiling. He paid for our meal and we took home some of our creations. Sidney drove me back home and walked me to my apartment.
“Thanks a lot, Sid,” I said hugging him. “I always have a blast with you.”
“I love making it possible, Raina.”
“You wanna come inside for a little?” I asked motioning to the door.
“I’d love to, but I have to watch the kids for Mario. I’ll text you?”
“Deal,” I said kissing him. “Thanks again.”
“No problem,” he said giving me one last kiss. “See ya later, Raina!” I walked inside and shut the door behind me. I leaned against it and sighed. This is the best feeling in the world; love.

Me and Sidney made a pizza and were deciding on what to do. “Wanna watch a movie?” I asked sitting on the couch with Millie.
“Sure,” Sidney said as he pulled my feet onto his lap. “We should watch Friends!” he said excitedly.
“Friends, what’s that?” I asked rubbing behind Millie’s ears.
Sidney looked at me like I just told him I wasn’t human or something. “You have never watched Friends before?” he said with a blank face.
“Nope, fill me in.”
Sidney stood up and grabbed his keys. “I’ll be right back!” He ran out of my apartment and I assumed back to his car. He quickly came back in with a dvd. “This is the first season. Don’t ask why it’s in my car, it just is,” he said walking over to my tv and putting it in.

I grabbed a blanket and Sidney had me curl up with him and wrapped his arms around me. We ate the pizza and stayed up till three watching his favorite show. I slowly started drifting off and Sidney kissed my head. “Ready for bed, babe?” he asked sitting up.
“Yeah,” I mumbled. He took me to my room and pulled down my covers. “Thanks sir,” I said crawling into bed.
“You’re welcome, Raina,” he said kissing my forehead. “You mind if I sleep on the couch?” he asked nervously. “I just don’t like going back to the Lemieux’s so lame.”
“Its fine,” I said smiling at how cute he looked in his sweats and tee shirt he changed into. I wanted to invite him to sleep in my bed, but I wasn’t sure how to offer, or if I was really ready. But I guess my mouth made up my mind. “Come here,” I said grabbing his hand before he walked away.
“What’s up, babe,” he said softly.
I patted my bed and smiled. “Lay with me tonight.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to-“
“Come on, I’m sleepy.” Sidney smiled and climbed onto the bed with me. I cuddled against his warm body and laid my head against the pillow. His arms wrapped around me and in seconds I drifted off. It was the first night I slept peacefully and so quickly.

The next day, Sidney was up early getting up of bed. I looked over at the clock that read 7 a.m. “Why are you up so early?” I yawed.
“Game in Long Island, sorry I didn’t tell you,” he said pulling on pants.
“Ooh,” I said sitting up. “You need anything?” I asked trying to sound awake.
“Nah, I’ll just get something on the plane.”
I got out of bed anyways. “I’ll make you something. Uh, what can you eat?” I asked pulling my hair up.
“Raina, I’m fine,” he chuckled.
“No, I’ll make something. Toast alright? Or eggs or something?” I said walking out of my room.
“Raina, I’m okay!” Sidney called to me. I heard him sigh, knowing he wasn’t going to win. “Yeah, eggs and toast are fine!”
I smiled, “Knew it!” I started getting food ready and Sidney came out a few minutes later. He must have gone to his car before I woke up and got his suit. “Do you just have suits lying around in your car?” I asked cracking an egg.
“Pretty much,” he said smiling. “So, what are you doing today?”
“Work, that’s all. Nothing excited,” I said shrugging. “Want something to drink?” I asked
“Any OJ,” Sid asked looking in the fridge.
“Yup, lower shelf.” I handed him a cup and finished his breakfast. I handed him a plate with his food and started cleaning up.
“Thank you, Raina,” He said grabbing the fork. “So, what are you doing for Christmas?”
“Not sure, probably go see my family or something. I think there’s a Christmas party at my aunt’s the day after tomorrow. And I might see my real family, too. I have no idea,” I laughed washing the skillet. “What about you?”
“Well, if you’re not busy, we always have a Christmas skate at the Mellon with the team. It’s next week actually, Friday.”
I thought about it for a moment. “Maybe, I’ll see what’s going on,” I smiled. Of course I want to go silly!!!
“Sweet,” Sid said smiling. “I guess I’m going up to Nova Scotia to see my family Christmas Eve. And then have to rush right back.”
“That hockey thing is hell, eh?” I laughed.
“Hey, I’m the Canadian,” he joked. “And yeah, it is pretty nuts.” Sidney finished his plate and went to wash it off. “Thanks for breakfast, Riana,” he said putting his plate in the dish washer.
“No problem,” I said smiling. Sid grabbed his stuff and I gave him a hug. “Good luck, Sid.”
“Thanks,” he said grinning. He pulled me into a deep kiss, holding the small of my back. His lips were just so perfect. “Good luck kiss,” he said smiling. “Bye, babe.”
“See ya, Sid,” I said giving him one last peck. He ran out the door and I sighed. I was going to miss him during this road trip… I was actually going to miss him. Like, wish he was home with me and laying on my couch eating and watching tv. Never seen that coming.

Thursday rolled around, and Sidney was in Boston. I made plans to go out to dinner with Jay and his girlfriend, Kendra. I headed to Joe’s Crab Shack and go a table near a tv. They have game on, ready to watch the Pens take on the Bruins.
The waiter came over to me and asked what I needed to start me off. “Hello, miss,” he greeted. “What’s a pretty girl like you doing here all alone?” he said with a sly grin.
I blushed and shook my head. “I’m waiting on someone friends, thanks.”
“Oh, I see. Well, can I get you a drink while you wait?”
“Sure, coke please.”
“Of course,” he winked and walked away. There was something about that guy that made me uncomfortable, but I couldn’t figure it out. I got comfortable in my seat and watched the tv as they interview with Sid. I listened carefully to his words, and how calm he was. That man amazed me.
I was soon joined by Jay and Kendra. “Hey, Jay Bird,” I said giving him a hug.
“Hey, Raina,” he said laughing. “How are you, babe?”
“Alright, how are you, Kendra?” I asked hugging her as well.
“Great, hope these Pens do good tonight!” she said excitedly. “That Crosby kid’s so hot,” she said staring at the tv as they took the ice.
“Yeah, he’s something else, eh, Raina?” Jay winked.
The waiter came back as I was blushing. “Here you, sweet heart,” he said smoothly. “I’m glad to see your friends showed,” he smiled. “I was thinking I was going have to occupy that spot myself. Can I get you two something to drink?”
“Two Buds please,” Jay said politely. The waiter gave me one last look before walking away. “Looks like someone’s a looker,” Jay laughed, referring to the waiter.
“I’m not surprised,” I said rolling my eyes.
“So, how’s golden boy?” Jay grinned.
I blushed, “Good, I guess.”
“You guess? You kiss yet?”
“Who’s golden boy?” Kendra piped in.
“Uh…” I wasn’t sure what to say.
“Sidney Crosby,” Jay said with a wide smile.”
“You’re shitting me!” Kendra said getting excited.
“Shhh! Yes, it’s Sidney,” I said trying to keep her down. “We met when I took the day care kids to a practice. He offered me to see a game and dinner. And now, we’re uh, kinda hanging out.”
“Oh god! Raina, that’s awesome! I’m so jealous!” Jay shot her an angry look. “Baby, I’m just saying!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he said as the waiter came back.
“Happy to see your company’s keeping you entertained,” he winked.
“Yeah, that’s why I invited em,” I said getting annoyed. As the night went on, the game grew more and more intense. Sidney got an assist and a goal. It was a good night for him. Then, for the first time in his NHL career, Sidney dropped the gloves.
I stood up and started yelling, “Yeah, baby! Get him! Punch him good. Right there! Yeah, Sid!” The whole place was getting into it, but some turned heads to stare at me. I felt awkward and sat down. “Well, that was interesting,” I said looking at Jay and Kendra.
Jay just laughed. “You really like him, huh?” Kendra smiled.
I blushed, “I guess so.” It was a new start of my life. My heart was open, and loved. Life was… starting to be complete.

Sidney’s P.O.V.

The next day, I was done with morning skate and was drying off from the shower. All of the guy have been talking about Raina all day and telling how hot she was. But, there was something about her I needed to figure out first.

That’s when Jordan pointed it out.

“So, Sid, have you noticed the way Raina kind of holds back on ya?” he said pulling up his jeans.
I gave him a puzzled look. “Not really. I mean, she’s kind of stiff at times, but she could just be nervous,” I said defending her.
Jordan grinned, “Did you notice the ring around her ring finger?”
I started to tense up and think about it for a second. Ring? I remember seeing a really beautiful diamond one, but I didn’t think anything of it. I’ve been in her house. No one else is ever there, besides Millie.
“Jordan, it could just be something stupid, like… I don’t know, maybe her grandma gave it to her or something.”
“Her grandma,” Marc-Andre laughed. “Dude, that’s an engagement ring.”
I started to get nervous and sweat. Maybe she is engaged and is just playing me. It’s definitely not the first time, that’s for sure.
“I’ll just have to talk to her about it. I’m sure it’s not too much to worry about.”
Jordan chuckled. “Yeah, it’s not too much to worry about. Just don’t think about her screaming some other guys name tonight, and making his breakfast in the morning.”
I glared at Jordan and threw on my coat. “Fuck off, Jordan.” I walked quickly to my Range Rover and dialed Raina’s number.
She answered in a few short rings. “Hello?” she said with kids in the background.
“Hey, Raina, It’s Sidney.”
I heard her voice light up, “Sorry, I didn’t have time to look at the caller ID. What’s up? Thanks for last night.”
I let out a chuckle. “No problem. Thanks for coming. Um, I was wondering what you’re doing tonight after the game.”
“Well, I can’t go out, because of work. I cut it close today.”
I sighed. “Well, can I come over after the game? I kind of want to talk about something.”
I could tell she got nervous. “Um, sure, just call before you come. I don’t want to be sleeping,” she laughed.
By saying that, I got curious wondering if she needed time to hide something. “Alright, well I’ll let you get back to work. See ya tonight.”

Raina’s P.O.V.

I hung up with Sidney and looked at Mel, who was giving me a dirty look. “What?” I snapped. I was getting a short fuse with her today.
“You do know you’re at work, right?” she glared, “And was late on top of it.”
“And you never came in late,” I said rolling my eyes. The day seemed to drag on. I guess the fact I wanted to get home and see Sidney didn’t help. I sat down for the game and got ready to watch the Penguins face the Senators.

Half way through the game, my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID and my face lit up. “Hey, Jay,” I answered excitedly.
“Hey, Raina,” he said with a chuckle. “What’s up, girlie?”
“Nuffin, watching the pens game, what about you?” I said getting up to make a pizza.
“Whoa, you’re actually watching a hockey game?” he said surprised.
I kind of froze, not sure if I should tell him about Sidney. After all, Jay was Justin’s best friend. “Yeah, I just wanted to get back into it, I guess. So, how have you been, buddy?”
“Pretty good, school’s killing me,” he laughed. “How’s the day care?”
I sighed. “Same old, same old I guess. How’s Kendra?”
“Great. I’m thinking about asking her to marry me,” Jay said nervously.
My own heart sank. I looked down at my engagement ring that now met nothing. “When you gonna do that?” I asked, really not caring.
“Maybe New Years Eve, when the ball drops,” he said as I turned on the oven.
“Well, I wish you all the luck,” I said sitting back on the couch to watch the game.
“Thanks, so have you been seeing anyone?”
I bit my lip nervously. “Well, kind of.”
“What?” Jay said very surprised. “I was just asking to be nice. Who’s the lucky guy?”
“You won’t believe me,” I laughed.
“Common, tell,” he said wanting answers.
I sighed, with a light laugh. “Sidney Crosby.”
Jay started busting out in laughter. “You’re right, that was a good one. Okay, really who? Brad Pit?”
“Sidney Crosby,” I stated more serious this time. “I met him when I went to set up stuff for the day care. He’s a really nice guy.”
Jay was speechless for a moment. “I’m surprised. You won’t even go for a normal guy. Raina,” he said pausing, “are you sure you’re ready for this? I mean, this is a huge step. Not just for you, but for anyone who would want to date a hockey player.”
“We’re not even dating, Jay. We’ve just been on a few outings, that’s all.
He let out a sigh, “Just let me know what you decide, Raina. I don’t want to see you hurt. I love you, babe.”
“I love you too, Jay Bird,” I said with a grin.
“Fuck you,” he laughed.

We talked for till the game was over and I told him I had to get ready for ‘bed’. I straightened up the apartment and myself. About 20 minutes later, I heard a knock at the door. I started to get nervous and ran to answer it. I opened the door and seen Sidney’s smiling face. Even after the losing game, he was still somehow in a good mood.
“Hey you,” he said pulling me into a hug and kissing my cheek.
“Hi,” I said happily. “Come in, sit down,” I said leading him inside as Millie ran over to him and started sniffing his leg. “You played a good game. I’m sorry about the loss.”
Sidney just shrugged and sat on the couch. “It happens. I’ve been trying to let it go, and stay at the rink, but sometimes I just get so frustrated.”
I nodded and sat down on the love seat. “I know exactly how you feel, Sid.”
Sidney just sat back and let out a breath of air. “So, how was your day?” he said getting comfortable on the couch.
“Same old, same old,” I laughed. “I did get to watch a pretty good looking guy on tv though,” I said giving him a wink.
“Oh yeah,” he said with a grin. “Were you watching Laguna Beach or something?” he said grinning.
“No,” I said sticking out my tongue. “And I’m lucky enough to have that good looking guy on my couch right at this moment,” I said sitting next to him.
Sidney grinned and went to kiss me, but something held him back. “Raina,” he said nervously. “Can I ask you something?”
I knew exactly where this was going, and my heart started to race, and I felt like it was in my head, and started sweating. “Uh, sure, Sid. What’s on your mind?”
He sat back a bit and took a deep breath. “I don’t mean to be prying or nosey, but I need to find something out before I get too attached.”
“I understand,” I said looking down at hands, as I played with my ring.
Sidney picked up my left hand and held it. “I just wanna know if this means anything,” he said nervously.
I started to tear up thinking about it. I knew Sidney wasn’t trying to be an asshole, he was just curious. I took my empty hand and whipped away a tear that started to fall.
Sidney realized I was getting upset and dropped my hand. He whipped away another tear that fell and hushed me. “Raina, I’m so, so sorry. I didn’t mean to make you cry. I was just wondering. I’m sorry,” he said pulling me closer to him.
“I know, Sid,” I said trying not to let my voice crack. “It’s an extremely long story and I’m not sure how to tell you,” I said pulling my knees up to my chest and Sidney put his arm around me.
“You don’t have to tell me if you’re not ready, Raina. I’ll be ready to listen any time.”
“Are you sure you really wanna hear?” I laughed.
Sidney smiled and kissed me. “Of course I want to know, silly. I want to know everything that’s going on in that pretty little head of yours.”
I smiled and sat up. “Well, I guess I should start out by telling you about my family. I’m adopted.” Sidney’s eyes widened in awe and I continued. “My parents were killed in a car accident after we moved back here. My brother, Seth, was killed too. I was put up for adoption by my grandmother because no one could really raise me. The family I was adopted into took me when I was ten. I’m an only child to them, since my mom couldn’t have children.”
“Just a wonder, but why did they adopt an older kid?” Sidney asked interested in my story.
“Well, they were asking about older ones, since they didn’t have a lot of time to spend on a baby, and just wanted the joy of kid. They were asking about some of the kids, and heard about how long I’ve been there and took me,” I said with a light smile. I loved the fact someone actually cared enough for me to take me into their own family like that.
“That’s awesome,” Sid said smiling.
“Yeah, so I grew up in Pittsburgh. Well, when my family was alive, I lived in Chicago for a while because of my dad’s job. That’s when I first seen the Penguins, and they won the cup.”
“Holy shit,” Sidney said laughing. “That’s nuts!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle. “Yeah, it’s crazy. But then I was raised outside of Pittsburgh and had a pretty decent school. By 10th grade, I met a kid, Justin. Honestly, I was in love. He proposed to me our senior year. We were going to go to college together and such. I was going to be a teacher and he wanted to be a kid’s doctor.”
“What happened?”
I took a huge, deep breath, knowing this was going to be rough. Sidney was the first guy I let into my life and was the first guy I was telling this story to. I just had to be strong and try not to cry too much. “It was our senior years, May 15, and Justin and I were on our way to a party. All week, Justin’s parents thought he was doing drugs. His brother was a hardcore junkie, and stole from his friend and hid the shit in Justin’s room. So, Justin had a drug test and it was negative. Kenny, his brother, actually set him up.”
Sidney gave me a weird look. “Why?”
“He was jealous of everything Justin had. I donno, he was just a low life.”
“I can tell. So, what happened at the party? Did he cheat on you or something?”
I shook my head. “We didn’t even make it to the party,” I said tearing up. “I let go of Justin’s hand to text Jay, and all I heard was a gunshot and looked up and seen Justin fall to the pavement.” I started to choke up my words. Sidney just held my hand, not saying a thing. I collected myself and whipped the tears away once again. “Kenny and Matt, the kid he stole from, showed up, and it was Matt who shot him. Justin ended up dying that night at the hospital.”
Sidney pulled me into a hug as I started to cry. “You don’t tell this story often, do ya, Raina?” he whispered. I shook my head as I buried it into his neck. “It’s okay, sweetie.”
Sidney rubbed my back and kissed my head. I sighed and finally pulled my head up. “I’m sorry, Sid. I know I act kind of weird around you, but you’re the first guy I’ve actually let in three years.”
Sidney gave me a tissue and ran his hand through my hair. “It’s understandable, Raina. I’d be a train wreck, myself. Look, if you need me to lay off, or go slower, or even just be a friend, I’ll do that for you.”
I looked up and met Sidney’s gaze and smiled. “Thanks, Sid. I honestly can say I want to move on, and I couldn’t have picked a better person to change my mind.”
A huge smile came to Sidney’s face. He gave me a light kiss and pressed his forehead against mine. “You’re an amazing girl, Raina.” I smiled and started to say something but Sid cut me off. “Talking about depressing things makes me hungry. Let’s see what you got in this fridge of yours.”

\\.::=Nine=::.//

Work on Wednesday was just like any other, and as I was waving bye to Mel and walking to my car, I noticed and something on my hood. There were a beautiful bouquet of flowers on my car and as I picked them up, I seen a note on them.

Raina,
I just want to say thanks for the other night. I had a blast. I hope we can do it again. Maybe we can tonight? Colby’s having a party at his place. Call me for details and let me know. Its okay if you don’t want to. Thanks again. Talk to you later.
Sidney.

I smiled widely and got in the car. I drove home and ran inside, putting the flowers in a vase. I grabbed my phone and called Sidney. It took a while to ring, but he answered.
“Hello,” he said laughing. I heard kids in the back yelling his name.
“Hey there,” I said smiling, wondering what was going on.
“Guy, stop please,” I heard him mumble to them. “Hey, sorry, the kids are beating me up,” he said trying to get air.
I could help but laugh. “And I thought you were a mighty hockey player,” I laughed.
“Yeah, well you take on four Lemieux kids at one time and see how you do!”
“I think I’d jump in and help them,” I said teasing him.
“I‘d take you out first.”
“Pshh, you wish,” I said smirking. “So, how about I got an unexpected gift on my car today?”
Sidney’s voice got shaking, but happy. “Oh yeah, what was it?”
“Beautiful flowers. Some stud got em for me and invited me to a party.”
“I have compaction, eh?”
“I think so.”
“So, you gonna go with this guy to that party?”
“Depends on what’s going on at this party.”
“Well, it’s a sleep over.”
“Sidney!” I yelled into the phone.
He laughed. “No, not like that, pervert! Colby’s having a sleep over, and we’re gonna wear footy pjs, eat popcorn, and watch movies. You can even bring Millie if you want. And I’ll make sure we don’t stay up too late so you can make it to work.”
I smiled at the thought. What would hurt? It’d be kind of fun. “Sure. What time does it start?”
“Seven. I can pick you up at six because I’m going early.”
“Okay. I’ll go get ready.” We said goodbye and I jumped in the shower. I dried my hair, straightened it, and put it into two braids. I put light make up on and looked around for footy pjs. Who the fuck wears these at such an age?! I looked at the clock and seen I had an hour. I threw on clothes and ran to the mall to find a pair. I couldn’t be the only one left out!
I hurried around trying to find them. Finally, I ran into a store and found the perfect pair. They were penguin ones! The lady looked at me like I was nuts buying them. I got a few other things like pop, chips, and cookies so I didn’t look cheap. I hurried home and changed into my new pjs.
I finished getting ready just in time. Sidney knocked on my door and I ran to greet him. I checked myself in the mirror before opening the door. “Hey,” I smiled, seeing Sidney in him outfit.
He pulled me into a hug, laughing. “Hey, Raina, you look cute.”
“So do you, sir,” I said trying not to crack up.
“Ready to roll?” he asked. I nodded and called for Millie. She ran in and Sidney started cracking up. “You got pjs for your dog too?!”
“Yeah, go figure I had some for her, but not for me. I had to run to the store real quick,” I laughed.
“You didn’t have to get them,” he said grabbing the pop. “I was just saying. But you look real cute in them.”
I blushed and looked at the ground. “Thanks,” I giggled. I grabbed my bag, but Sidney went to grab it as well. “I got it, Sid,” I said grabbing the handle.
“Raina, it’s cool. I got it.”
“I’ll kick you, Crosby,” I said trying not to laugh.
He won the battle anyways and took the bag. I grabbed Millie and we headed to his Range Rover. Colby was about 20 minutes away, which left us with a lot of spare time for conversation.
“So, who’s all coming?” I asked texting Mel telling her I might be late tomorrow.
“Jordan, Max, Marc-Andre, Brooks, Tyler, and Kris, and they’re bring their girlfriends.”
I nodded. “This is gonna be a long night,” I said leaning back into my seat. “But time well spent,” I grinned.
We ended up having a conversation about Friends for the whole trip there, which I was happy about. We got to Colby’s and took our stuff inside. Millie fallowed me in and I walked in and seen Colby and some girl sitting on the couch in their outfits.
“Hey, Sid and his hot friend,” Colby said getting off the couch. “How are you Riana?”
“Pretty good,” I smiled. “You’re self?”
“Pretty swell,” Colby said grabbing my bag. “I’ll put this in the guest room.”
“Hey, Colbs, Riana bought your favorite! Combos!” Sidney yelled.
Colby looked at me and hugged me, picking me up. “Thank you! Thank you!”
“You’re welcome?” I said laughing as he put me down. Soon the guys showed up with their girlfriends. We were mingling around, getting to know each other and some were playing video games. I was talking to Jordan, who was extremely friend and not to mention, hot.
“So, are you seeing golden boy?” he asked popping open a beer.
I blushed. “Not really. I mean, he’s an amazing guy, but we just haven’t gone that far. I barely know him.”
Jordan nodded. “Yeah I know what you mean. He better treat you good,” he winked. It was about nine when the boys put away their controllers and picked out a movie. We decided on The Grudge and we all took out spots on the couches, chairs, and the floor. Me and Sidney ended up in the corner of the couch on the floor. It was actually really comfortable.
The beginning was awkward for me. I didn’t know if I should make myself comfortable on Sidney, or just lay there in my own spot. Sidney made up my mind when he pulled me closer to him. The lights were out, so you couldn’t really tell who was doing what.
Sidney took advantage to it. His arm was over my stomach and he was propped up on his elbow. I looked at him and smiled. He was just so adorable. He looked down at me and grinned. “What?” he whispered.
I shook my head and he asked again getting closer to my face. I knew he would back away after the movie incident. I pulled the back of his neck, to bring his face closer to mine. His lips landed perfectly onto mine. His tongue grazed my lower lip, letting me know he wanted in. He then broke apart my lips and my tongue wrapped around his. He held my face and deepened the kiss, push his lips harder onto mine, and his tongue more entwined with mine.
He pulled away with a grin and kissed my nose. I shook my head and pulled his face back down to kiss him again. We did that for a good fifteen minutes.

After we were done, the movie was almost over, and I was beat. “Wanna go to sleep, babe?” Sid whispered in my ear. I nodded and he started to pick me up.
“I wanna stay here,” I said with a chuckle.
Sidney rolled his eyes, “Whatever you say.” He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head. Within seconds, I was fast asleep.

\\.::=Eight=::.//

Throughout the week, I watched the Penguins defeat all three Canadian teams. I promised Sidney I’d stay up till he was going back to hotel to talk to him for a couple minutes before bed. I took a nap every day after work, but I didn’t mind at all.
Sidney was finally coming home after losing to the Flyers. I was stuck at work, and it was only noon. I knew Sidney was already home and probably taking a nap. It was lunch time and the kids were eating their snack.
We were sitting in the room with the kids as my phone rang. “Ooh, who could that be?” Mel said grinning.
“Stop that,” I said rolling my eyes. It got really old, really fast, hearing my family and friends talk about the little date. “Hello,” I said ignoring Mel’s kissy face.
“Hey, Raina,” a cheerful voice said.
“Hey, Sid, what’s up?”
“Eh, just lying around the house. I was wondering what you’re doing tonight?”
I got up to leave ear shot so Mel couldn’t hear. “Um, nothing that I know of, why?”
“Well, I was wondering if you’d want to hang out and maybe catch a movie,” he proposed.
I took a minute to think. It’s dark, short, and you don’t have to talk a lot. “Sure,” I said smiling. “What time?”
“How about six?” he asked.
“Sounds perfect,” I smiled.

I flew home after work, and washed up and got ready for the movie. I had no idea what we were seeing, but whatever it was, I was excited to see Sidney it. I was finishing my make-up and Sid called. “Hello,” I said putting on lip gloss.
“Hey, Raina, I’ll be in there in like five minutes.”
“Okay, I’ll be ready.” We hung up and I hurried and got my things together. I heard a knock at the door and I got excited. I looked through the peephole and seen Sidney. I smiled and opened the door and greeted him with a hug. “Hey,” I said embracing him.
“Hey, girlie,” he said matching my smile. “Ready?”
“Yup,” I said shutting the door behind me.
We walked down the hall and walked outside into the cold. Sidney opened my door, just like before. After he got into the driver’s side, he asked, “So, how was work?”
“Pretty good, never a dull moment with those kids,” I said turning off my phone in case of another interrupted call. “How was your trip?”
“Awesome,” Sidney said smiling like a little boy. “We did the craziest shit. Me, Colby, Max, Marc-Andre, and Jordan all went out and went into this cave and all this other shit. They had the best bars! It was awesome, Raina. I think you would have had a blast there.”
Sidney was thinking of me while he were there, other than when we were on the phone? “Aw, that’s sick. Did a bear get cha guys?” I laughed.
“Nope, and if one did come out, we’d throw Colby at him since he’s the lightest. It’d be like a chew toy until it realized there’s no meat.”
We laughed together at the thought of it. “You’re teammates sound like pretty cool guys.”
“They’re awesome. You’re gonna have to hang with us some time. Maybe hit the club or dinner.”
“That’d be fun,” I smiled.
“So, what did you do while I was out and about?”
“My mom and dad came over with my little cousins over the weekend, and that’s about it. Just work and one night Mel and I went to dinner with some friends.”
“That sounds nice. Where’s your favorite place to eat?”
“Anywhere really,” I laughed. “Jay’s probably.”
“Oh, I love stopping in there after practice.”
“Well, I love their fries,” I said licking my lips. Sidney laughed and pulled into a parking space. He bought my ticket and we walked inside. “You did-“
“Yes, I did have to. Want something to eat?”
“Only if you let me pay,” I said grinning.
“Not a chance. What do you want?”
I sighed, knowing there was no point in fighting with a millionaire. “A coke icy, pretzel, and skittles,” I said as he pulled out his wallet. He bought a few different things and we headed into the theater. We sat in the back and there were a few people in front of us.
The movie started and I got comfortable in my seat. After finishing my pretzel, I sat up and Sidney put his arm around me. I didn’t refuse, so I snuggled closer to him. By half way through the movie, I crossed my legs over his and fit right into his body. I noticed a piece of popcorn hit my and looked at Sid, who was trying not to laugh.
“Sidney!” I yelp grabbing the popcorn and throwing a handful at him.
“Raina, it’s not nice to liter!” he said throwing more at me, as it went down my shirt.
“You’re cleaning that up,” I said with a smirk, not realizing what slip from my mouth. I grabbed the rest of popcorn and poured it over his head. We were cracking up as the couple in front of us got annoyed and moved to the front.
“Raina, you’re in a movie theater,” he hissed, trying to be serious.
“Sidney, so are you!” I laughed, as he held my arms back, since I tried throwing a skittle at him. He held my hands at my side and was still laughing. “You’re a faggot,” I said trying to breath. He didn’t help breath much, as his lips crashed down onto mine.
His lips were full and soft. He let go of my arm gently, and held my face. He opened his mouth and slid his tongue into my mouth. I curled my tongue around his, as it worked my mouth skillfully. It was my first kiss in three years, and it felt my first. Absolutely perfect.
Sidney pulled away and we blushed. He cracked a grin and scratching the back of his neck nervously. “Uh, movies over,” he said looking at the screen.
“Yeah, it is,” I said standing up and grabbing my coat. We walked out of the movies and out into the cold air.
“Do you just want to go home, before I make things more awkward?” Sidney asked making me smiling.
“Sure,” I said as he opened the car door for me. The ride home was silent, but it wasn’t because I was mad. I was more shocked than anything, and maybe a bit happy?
We got back to the apartments and Sidney walked me to my place. We reached my door and I looked up at him. “Thanks for night, Sid,” I said taking his hand.
He smiled. “I’m sorry I-“
“Don’t be,” I said putting my finger against his lips. “I’m sorry we didn’t do it sooner.” I smiled at his confused face. “Night, Sid.” I gave him a kiss on the cheek and went inside. Millie came up to me and I picked her up. “He kissed me!” I said snuggling the dog. “Why am I telling you this? You don’t care.” I put her on the ground and sat on the chair in the kitchen. It couldn’t be a more perfect night. I wanted another just the same.

\\.::=Seven=::.//

I woke up on the couch, with Millie at my feet. I groaned at the grey sky, seeing it snowed more. I loved snow, but it’s not very fun sitting at home by yourself. I got up and decided to make food. I threw in toast and made hot chocolate. I wasn’t a coffee person. After I ate, I laid back on the couch with Millie. I didn’t feel like doing much of anything.
My phone started to ring. Fuck. My mom. I totally forgot! I picked up the phone and turned off the tv and seen it was already two o’clock.
“Hello,” I said taking my plates to the sink.
“Raina, sweetie, how are you?”
“Great, mom, how are you?”
“I’m fine. Me and your father are about to leave in about an hour and we’re picking up Macy and Pat and coming to see you.”
Fucking great. “Okay, sweet. Uh, I guess I’ll see ya soon then.”
“Okay, honey, I love you. Bye-bye.”
“Bye, mom,” I said hanging up. “God, why me,” I screamed. I ran around the house cleaning everything up and hoped into the shower. I didn’t bother with my hair and just scrunched it. I put light make-up on and threw on a pair of jeans and a black tee shirt with some socks.
I vacuumed the house and finished just in time. There was a knock at the door and I knew exactly who it was. Millie started to bark and jumped onto my family as I opened the door.
“Raina!” my mom said hugging me. I’ve been on my own for a year and half, and she freaks out every time she comes to visit. “Your place looks amazing!”
“Thanks, mom,” I said as my dad hugged me. “Hi, daddy,” I said smiling.
“Hey, pumpkin, how are you?”
“Pretty good,” I said as Macy and Pat hugged me. “Hey, kiddos,” I said as they wrapped their arms around me. Macy was ten and Pat eight.
We all sat in the living room and I got everyone drinks. “So, about this date last night,” my mom said with a grin.
My cheeks got red and I smiled widely, “Yeah, what about it?”
“Who was it?” she shouted. “It’s been years since you’ve been on a date with someone else.”
“Well,” I said trying to find believable words. I doubt they’ll believe me if I said I went on a date with Sidney Crosby. “I wouldn’t even call it a date. It was more of an evening out.”
“Just tell us who it was, Raina!” my mom yelled getting impatient.
“Sidney Crosby,” I said quickly.
They all looked at me with a blank face. “What? Come again?” my dad said dumbfounded. He was a huge sports fan and worked for the sports section in the new paper. He could name every player on every team for football, hockey, basket ball, and baseball.
“Sidney. He’s 21, and plays hockey. You might have heard of him, dad,” I said trying to cover up the big deal.
My family was quiet. “He’s the hot one, right?” Macy asked with her head cocked to side.
I couldn’t help but smile. “Yes, the hot one.”
“Raina, that’s a big deal! I mean, you dating again is a deal, but are you sure you want to move on with a hockey star?”
I twiddled with my thumbs. I looked up at her and shrugged. “I’m not even sure if I’m going to date him, guys. I’m scared.”
“Of?” my dad asked.
“Getting hurt or something happening again. And what if Justin doesn’t want me to be with someone else?”
“Raina,” my mom said getting up and sitting next to me, “Justin would want to see you happy. Remember that note he wrote for you? He said to hold back on finding love. He doesn’t want to see you die alone, sweet heart.” I nodded as I started to cry. My mom pulled me into a hug. “Have you told Sidney about him yet?”
I looked at her like she was crazy. “Why would I tell a stranger my personal life so soon? I don’t want him to think I’m so basket case either, thanks. Now, what do you want for dinner?” I said standing up. I wanted to be far from this conversation.

The awkwardness slide by after a while, and they left around nine o’clock. I cleaned up the house and went into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and took off my jeans and threw them into the basket. I took off my make-up and went to lie in bed.
I stared at my ceiling and sighed. I looked at the clock and it read 11:07. So much for Sid- Never mind. My phone rang and looked at the caller id. Sidney. I got butterflies as I hit talk. “Hello,” I said, trying not to sound too happy, or tired.
“Hey, Raina,” he said quietly.
“Hi, Sid, how are you? What’s up?”
“I’m pretty good, just sitting my hotel room. I’m waiting for Colby to come back with food.”
“Ooh, so I take it as you don’t have much time to talk,” I said with a chuckle, but kind of bummed.
He laughed. “I never have time for myself, but I’ll make time for you,” he said sweetly.
“You’re corny, Crosby,” I laughed. “So, how was the press?”
He sighed, “I’m surprised I still have an arm left. They made people turn off their cameras at one point. It was nuts. This one group of girls tried sneaking into my hotel room tonight. I left to get ice and they like ran after me,” he laughed.
“I would’ve kicked them,” I said, causing Sid to laugh more.
“Are you gonna watch any of the games?”
I smiled. The thought of seeing Sidney sweating, working hard, and… mmmm… “Of course I will. What time?”
“Uh, I think it’s like at 10 there,” he laughed.
“You’re lucky I like you,” I slipped. Oh, fuck.
“Extremely lucky,” he said softly. “So, what did you do today?”
“My parents came over with my baby cousins.”
“Well, that sounds fun. How’d it go?”
“Alright,” I lied. “So, what are you doing now?”
“Just laying here, watching tv. Colby just walked in.”
“Ooh, well, I’ll let you go.”
“Are you sure?” he asked disappointed.
“Yeah, I have to get a good night sleep anyways. I’ll text you tomorrow if you want.”
“Please do!” he said excitedly.
I laughed. “Okay. Good night, Sidney.”
“Sweet dreams. Good night, Raina.” I hung up and plugged my charger in. I laid in bed and looked out of the window. Millie jumped up on the bed and laid at my feet. More snow fell from the dark sky and on to my balcony. It was a pretty lonely night. I guess being alone forever would suck. Maybe that’s why Justin told me just go for it.
Throughout night the night, I couldn’t sleep at all. I would wake up every 30 minutes. I sighed and looked at the clock. Only one o’clock. I picked up the phone and called Sidney. I’d feel bad for waking him up if he was sleeping, but I doubted he was.
“Hello?” he answered with the tv in the background.
“Hey, Sid,” I said acting like it wasn’t a random phone call.
“Is everything okay?” he asked worried.
“Yup, what’s up?”
“Uh, nothing really, sitting around with Colbs. Are you sure you’re alright. What time is it there, like one?”
“Yeah, I just couldn’t sleep.”
I heard a voice yell in the background and ask who Sid was talking to. “It’s Raina,” Sid answered.
“HI RAINA!” I heard Colby yell in the background. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Tell you’re oddball friend, hi,” I said still laughing. We talked for a good hour and half about goofy things him and Colby have done together. I started to get tried and realized it was almost three. “Well, you have a big day tomorrow. I better let you go,” I said yawning.
“Yeah, and you sound beat. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“Alright, good night once again,” I said smiling.
Sid laughed. “Good night, Raina.” I hung up the phone and my head hit the pillow, and I was out.

IMPORTANT: Before reading this chapter, so you're not left out on anything, re-read chapter FIVE. I accidently posted it and forgot I didn't add that last part which is the game and Raina and Mel's talk. Please read. Thank you and comment. :D

AND CONGRATES ON THE PENS MAKING THE PLAYOFFS! xD

Friday took forever to roll around! I thought I was going to explode from exciting. Why though? I thought I told myself I didn’t want to see anyone else after losing Justin? I think I was having a different outlook on everything after meeting Sidney.
After work, I said good-bye to Mel and headed home. I called Sidney to let him know I was done and finalize our plans. After two rings, he picked up.
“Hello,” he answered in a happy voice.
“Hey, Sid, it’s Raina.”
“I know, silly! How was work?”
“Eh, crazy as always,” I laughed. “So, where are we going again?”
“Well, Max wants me to go to a club, but I really want to take you to dinner. So, it’s your call.”
I took a moment to think. A club’s an easy was to avoid conversation and just have a good time. But also, dinner is a good way to find out if I really want to start over again. “Dinner it is,” I said opening up my heart.
“Awesome. I have the best place to go! It’s pretty laid back.”
I smiled thinking about it. “Alright, well what time should I be ready?”
“How about seven o’clock? I can pick you up?”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to bother you.”
“I want to. No worries.”
I couldn’t stop smiling. “Okay. I guess I’ll see you at seven,” I said after giving him my address.
“I can’t wait! Talk to ya then. Bye Raina.”
“See ya, Sid.” I hung up and jumped into shower. I only had two hours to get ready. I did my hair, makeup, and put on nice clothes.

I brushed my teeth and threw a piece of gum in my mouth. I was petting Millie when I heard a knock at my door. I smiled and got up. “Hey, Sid,” I said giving him a hug as Millie ran over to him and started to beg.
“Hey, Raina, you look great,” he said smiling and bending down to pet Millie.
“Thanks. Millie, get away from Sidney! I’m sure those pants weren’t cheep.”
Sidney laughed. “Don’t worry about it. Cute dog,” he said petting her. “What kind is she?”
“A Pomeranian, she only about four years-old,” I said grabbing my purse.
“Well, she seems well trained for a little dog.”
I laughed, “Thanks, normally she’s not sniffing people are ten minutes when they first come in.” Sid chuckled and stood up, brushing the fur off of him. “Oh, I’m sorry, Sid,” I said noticing the fur. “I’ll get you a lint brush. What did I tell you, Millie?” I said staring at the dog.
Sidney just laughed. “Raina, it’s fine,” he said grabbing my hand. “Let’s just go.”
I relaxed a bit and smiled. We walked out of the apartment, I locked the door, and we headed outside. “So, where are we going?” I asked curiously as we walked down the steps.
“It’s a small restaurant in Southside. Do you like sushi?”
I nodded, “Love it.”
It was a comfortable silence and Sidney reached for his iPod. “Wanna pick out some music?” he asked handing it to me.
“Sure,” I smiled taking it from him. I frowned looking at all the country music. “Come on, Sid,” I said rolling my eyes, “you have to have something good on here.”
“What? You don’t like my music?” he asked disappointed.
I just looked at him with a serious face before saying, “No.”
“Well, I have Three Days Grace on there. I know you like them,” he said smiling. The ride wasn’t too long till we reached South Side. Sidney parked on the street not too far from the place. “Ready?” he asked shutting off the car.
I looked outside and shook my head. “Nah, I rather just chill in here,” I said sarcastically. Sidney rolled his eyes with a chuckle. I got out of the car and he led me up the side walk. He opened the door for me and we were seated in a booth. “This place is pretty cool,” I said looking around.
“You’ve never been here before?” Sid asked looking at menu.
“Nope,” I said taking off my coat. The waitress came over ask what we’d like to drink. Sidney ordered water and I got myself a coke. “So, how do you like Pittsburgh?” I asked as she walked away.
“It’s amazing. I can’t imagine a more beautiful city to live in with such great people. Have you lived here your whole life?”
“Pretty much,” I said as the waitress came back with our drinks. She gave Sidney a wink and strutted off looking back at him. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“What?” Sidney asked with a chuckle.
“Do girls always throw themselves out there for you?”
“No, you haven’t yet,” he said with a wink. I rolled my eyes. A guy walked over to Sidney, and he was someone from the team, I just couldn’t remember who.
“Hey, Darryl!” he said slapping Sid on the back. “Ah, I see you got a little date going on,” he said giving me a wink.
“Uh, yeah, Max. Can I help ya?” Sidney said looking up at him.
“Well, I came in here to get Gronk, but since I seen my buds here, I thought I’d come say hello. So, hello!” he said in a French accent.
“Well, hello, Maxime. Are you two going to Diesel?” Sidney asked as ‘Gronk’ walked over.
“Yup, are you two up for it, after eating?” Max asked, staring at me.
“No, thanks, Max,” Sidney said, getting annoyed.
“Whatever, golden boy,” he laughed. “See you tomorrow!”
The two guys left and Sidney sighed. “I’m sorry about that. I didn’t plan for him to be in here.”
I just smiled and nodded. “It’s cool. So, where’s your next game?”
“Edmonton,” he said with a huge smile. “It’s my first time playing in western Canada in the NHL.”
I couldn’t help but be happy for him. “Well, I wish you the best of luck, Sid,” I said smiling.
“Thanks. The media’s going to be crazy though,” he said as the waitress came back to take out order. After ordering, Sidney continued. “Everyone’s really crazy up there about meeting me. I don’t think much of myself, but apparently, they do,” he said taking a drink of water.
“Where all are you playing at?” I asked feeling my phone start to buzz.
“After Edmonton, we’re going to Calgary, and then Van Cover.”
“That’s awesome!” My phone started ringing again. “Sidney, I’m really sorry but I have to take this call.”
“Ooh, no problem,” he said as I got up.
I walked into the bathroom answering my phone. “Hello,” I said seeing it was my mom.
“Raina, dear, how are you?”
“Mom, I’m kind of out on a date thing.”
“What?!” my mom shouted into the phone.
“Yeah, is this important?”
“Well, not really. I just want to see if we could come out this weekend with your cousins.”
“Ooh, sure. Whatever, I have to go, mom. I’m sorry.”
“Well, you better call me after this!”
“Yeah, yeah, mom. Love you. Bye.” I hung up and rolled my eyes. I walked back to my seat, seeing Sidney talking to a group of girls around him. “Excuse me,” I said pushing passed one to get to my seat.
“Hey, Raina,” Sidney smiled. “Well, it was nice meeting you ladies,” he said politely.
“Same to you, Sid!” they yelled hugging him. They walked away and I started giggling to myself.
“Sorry about that,” he said as our food came.
“It’s chill. That’s your job. This show looks amazing,” I said getting away from the conversation.
“Sure does,” he said taking a bite.
“So, where are you from, Sid?” I wanted to know more about the kid. Something was telling me go for it. Love is blind, I guess.
“Halifax, Nova Scotia. It’s in Canada.”
“Go figure. How long have you been playing hockey?”
“I think I learned how to put on a pair of skates before shoes,” he laughed. “I learned how to skate as soon as I learned how to walk.”
“That’s awesome. I used to play for fun in high school.”
“Sweet, are ya any good?”
“No way,” I laughed. “So, how old are you?”
“Twenty-one, you?”
“I’ll be twenty in January.”
“So, what made you want to work with kids?”
“I’m not too sure, honestly. I always loved kids, and baby sat all the time. They’re just so fun and always keep you smiling. Sure, they can be frustrating, but they’re a bundle of joy. You said you help with kids in hockey, right?”
“Yeah, I’m starting an organization for kids who can’t afford it. I’m hoping it get it going by next season. Maybe I can start it off with some of the kids in your day care,” he said smiling.
“I think that’d be the coolest thing ever, Sid,” I said smiling. By this time, I was getting stuffed.
“Desert?” he asked with a chuckle.
“Are you trying to make me fat, Crosby?” I shot back at him.
“That’s how I like my women!” he said laughing. The waitress came back and handed us a check.
“Can we get se-“
“Here you go,” Sidney said cutting me off and handing the girl money. “Keep the change as a tip.”
“Thank you, sir,” she said smiling.
“Sidney,” I hissed. “I can pay for myself!”
“So? I offered to take you out. So, I pay for the dinner,” he smiled, putting on his coat.
I shook my head and did the same. We walked outside and snow covered the whole place. We walked down the street and went to walk across. Sidney grabbed my hand, seeing a big sheet of ice. “Since you’re not the best hockey player, I better help ya out,” he laughed.
“Fuck you.” We both laughed and kept walking. We got back to Sidney’s Range Rover and he opened the door for me. He got inside and turn on the car and heat full blast. He looked over at me and smiled. “What?” I blushed.
“Nothing,” he said putting on his belt and pulling out of the spot. “So, do have work tomorrow?”
“Nope, thank God,” I sighed. “What time’s your flight?”
“Eight. Blah!” he said sticking out his tongue. “So, did you like the game the other night?”
“I fucking loved it!” I said smiling. “I can’t believe you put us in the same room as Mario!”
Sidney smiled, “Well, my parents have seats in there, and anytime they don’t come, I have them sitting around. So, why not give them to a beautiful girl.” I blushed and looked out the window. “Mario said he had a blast. He was telling me how much fun you two were.”
“Really, that’s awesome!” I said smiling.
“Yeah, he said I should invite you more often.” I couldn’t help but smile, which wasn’t anything different from what I did when I was around him. Sidney got back to my apartment and walked me in. “Thanks for going out with me this evening, Raina. I really enjoyed your company.”
I smiled and as he held my hand. “Thanks for taking me out. I know I’m an extremely lucky girl,” I said, stepping closer to him.
“I’m a lucky guy,” he said smoothly. “Can I call you tomorrow after meetings and stuff? I’m gonna need to talk to someone to wind down,” he smiled.
“Of course you can.” Sidney got a little close to me stared at me. I panicked. “Well, I better let you go. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
I could see him face drop a bit. “Okay. Good night, Raina.” He hugged me and waved bye.
“Night, Sid.” I opened the door and quickly shut it. I slid to the floor and leaned against the door. Millie ran over to me and licked my hand. How can I look past my past and get my heart out there again?

\\.::=Five=::.//

Mel Rubbish: 24. Day care worker with Riana. Single. Sweet, loving, outgoing, thoughtful, and talented. Plays piano and sings.
On the way home, I filled Mel in on what happened. “And he invited me to the game tomorrow,” I said smiling ear to ear.
“What? You’re kidding. Please, tell me you’re kidding,” she said laughing.
“Sorry,” I laughed. “But, he gave me two, so if you want, you can come too.”
“Are you sure?” she asked excitedly as I nodded. “Ooh my God! Thank you so much, Raina!” she said hugging me. “We’re going shopping after this!”
I laughed and sighed, “Whatever you say.” After we got back and parents picked up all the kids, we headed to the mall and searched for the best outfit. “I’m nervous, Mel!” I said looking through racks of clothes.
“You at least talk to him before! I’m scared,” she laughed. “So, what’s he like?” she asked with a grin.
“Well, he’s very sweet and helpful. He’s definitely not like any other man. He loves helping out with kids.”
“Wait, how did you run into this guy anyways?” she asked looking at a blue shirt.
“Don’t get it,” I said making her put it back down. “Well, after work, I went to set up a few things and he came in the room after practice looking for a soccer ball. He started talking about what it was for and what he does for the kids. Then, he helped me set up and told me he’d see me tomorrow.”
“You’re so damn lucky, Riana,” Mel huffed.
“Sorry,” I laughed. After looking at clothes, we bought a few things, and headed home. “I’ll see ya at work,” I said dropping her off at the day care to go home in her car.
“See ya! And thanks a bundle!” she smiled getting out of the car. I drove home and looked at the time. It was nearly seven o’clock. One hour left till I could talk to Sid. I made myself dinner and tidied up the house. After I ate, and cleaned the kitchen, I looked at the time again. It was now three till eight. I picked up the phone and found Sidney’s number. I nervously hit send and gave him a call.
“Hello,” he said with little voices in the back ground.
“Hey, Sid, it’s Riana. I was just calling about directions.”
“Ooh, hey. How are you?”
“I’m fine, and yourself?”
“I’m doing swell. So, are you sure you really want to go tomorrow? It’s fine to say no,” he laughed.
“What?” I asked in shock. “Why would I say no?” I laughed. “I’m really excited.”
“Awesome,” he said in an excited voice. “So, who are you bringing?”
“Mel. She works at the day care with me. Is that alright?”
“Of course,” he laughed.
“Now about those directions,” I said not wanting to take up much of his time. He gave me the fastest way to get there and where to park. “Thanks, a bunch, Sid,” I said smiling.
“No problem. I was wondering what you’re doing after the game?”
My heart skipped a beat. “Uh,” I said trying to find words quickly. I didn’t think a night out on the town so soon was a great idea. “Well, I’m not totally sure. I have work really early in the morning, so I can’t stay out late. And I’m sure traffic won’t be too pretty,” I said trying to make it a light conversation.
“Ooh, yeah of course. I understand,” he said trying not to sound disappointed.
I sighed. “Don’t think I’m blowing you off, Sid. I just can’t do much on week nights. Those kids put in a long day.”
He laughed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t even think about that. How about, on Friday before I leave for Florida?”
I took a moment to think. “I’ll let you know.”
“Awesome! Well, I better get the kids to bed and let you get ready for bed. Thanks for accepting.”
“Of course,” I said with a smile bigger than ever. “See ya tomorrow, Sid.”
“See ya. Good night, Riana.”
“Night,” I said and hung up. I smiled to myself and set the phone down. I haven’t felt like this in years. It was hard to accept something like this though. It’s been almost three years since Justin’s been killed. But a part of me still felt devoted, even though I had a broken heart. My mornings and nights are the hardest. I was always used to falling asleep in Justin’s arms and waking up to his face, watching over me as I slept. Every morning and night I think about his scent, looks, touch, and personality. I just have to except it will never be the same.

The next day seemed to go by so slow. I hurried the kids out with their parents and shut and locked the door. I slid down it and looked at Mel with a huge smile. “Ready?”
She looked over at me grinning. “Of course I am! Are you going to pick me up?”
“Yep, I’ll be there around five forty or something?”
“Whatever you can do, just call me before you leave.”
“Will do, see ya!” I grabbed my purse and coat and headed home. I ran inside and said a quick hello to Millie. I ran into the shower and washed up. I dried my hair and straightened it. I put on blush, eye liner, mascara, and a dark grey eye shadow.
I ran to my closet and pulled out my new outfit.

After prepping, I called Mel to let her know I was on my way. I sped to her house and picked her up.
She got in the car with a bright smile. “I’m so excited!” she yelled.
“I know,” I said joining her excitement. “I wonder where our seats are.”
“Probably a box with a television and room service!”
I smiled thinking about it. We drove to the arena singing to Bon Jovi. I pulled into the parking garage and parked the car. I looked at Mel who couldn’t stop smiling from ear to ear. “Let’s go!” she said jumping out of the car. I shook my head laughing and joined her. “Will we get to met him?” she asked hopeful.
“I have no idea,” I shrugged. My phone then started ringing and I looked at my caller ID. I looked at Mel with a smile and got butterflies. “It’s him! Be quiet!” I said pressing talk. “Hello,” I answered, trying to keep my excitement down.
“Hey, Riana,” he greeted. “Are you here yet?”
“Yup, we’re actually walking to the arena now.”
“Well, can you meet me by the players’ parking lot? I have your tickets. I figured it’d be easier.”
I started jumping up and down a little. “Sure! I’ll be right there.”
“Okay. See ya.” He hung up and I looked at Mel.
“Let’s go get our tickets from the man himself!” I said loudly. We practically ran to the lot seeing Sidney standing outside in his gear and wearing yellow crocs. Damn, he’s hot! We walked closer to him and a guard stopped me. “Sorry, you can’t pass this. Players only.”
I looked at Sidney and yelled. “Sid!” The guard started to say something and Sidney ran over.
“Hey, sorry, I didn’t see ya there,” he laughed. “Here ya go, beautiful,” he said handing me the tickets.
“Thanks so much, Sidney. Oh, Sid, this is Mel. She’s my friend and works at the daycare with me.”
“Nice to meet you,” he said giving her a firm handshake. “Are you sure you don’t want to go out after the game?” he asked with a hint of hope in his voice.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Crosby. But we’re definitely on for Friday,” I said smiling.
“Awesome! Hope we put on a good show for you two ladies,” he said with a grin.
“Well, you better hurry your little ass in there and get to work then,” I said with a smile.
“Yeah, you’re right. Well, at least come down after the game to say bye,” he said smiling. With those perfect teeth!
“Of course,” I said as he pulled me into a tight hug.
“Awesome, it was nice meeting you, Mel,” he said giving her a hug as well.
“Same to you, Mr. Crosby,” she said, surprising me she could still speak.
“It’s Sid,” he said with a chuckle. “Bye, Raina. Ooh, and just come out here after. Text me.”
“Okay. Good luck!” I called to him as we started walking away. We barely got ten feet as Mel started freaking out.
“Oh, God! We just talked to Sidney freaking Crosby!” she yelled as we got to the doors. We talked about how sweet and what a gentleman he was to us, and how Mel swears he was flirting with me. I know it was obvious, but I didn’t want to get too far ahead of myself.
We looked at our tickets and went to see where our seats were. “He fucking hooked us up,” I said staring at them.
“Huh?” she said looking at them. Yep. They were box seats and probably the best ones. “This is sweet,” she said breathlessly. “Let’s go!” she said grabbing me hand. We decided to try and find our seats on our own. Took a good fifteen minutes, but made it just in time. I got to the door and walked in.
“Holy shit,” I said looking inside. There he was himself, Justin’s idol, Mario Lemieux. He would always talk about how great he was, how much he looked up to him, and how he almost cried when he met him. Leave it up to Justin. I couldn’t help but smile thinking about it.
“Go,” Mel said poking me in the back. “Say something at least.”
I nervously walked and the room got silent and turned. “Hi,” I spoke, with my voice shaking.
“Hello, girls,” Mario said with a smile. “You must be the two Sidney invited. You can sit right up here,” he said pointing to a row in front of them. “I’m Mario, by the way.” He extended his hand and took a few steps towards us.
“Nice to meet you, Mister Lemieux,” I said shaking his hand. “This is my friend, Mel, and I’m Raina.”
“Nice to meet you both,” he said smiling. “This is my wife Nathalie, and my kids, Austin and Alexa. Lauren and Stephanie are at their grandparents.”
“Nice to meet you all,” I said waving and smiling. We took our seats and I looked at Mel. “I feel so awkward,” I whispered.
“So, Raina,” Nathalie spoke up, “have you been to a game before?”
I thought back to my last game. It was Mario’s first game back with Justin. He was so ecstatic to see Mario again. “Yeah, actually it was Mr. Lemieux’s first game back,” I said smiling.
“Really?” Mario asked smiling. “And just call me Mario,” he said smiling. “Did you have fun?”
“Yeah,” I said smiling, thinking about it. “I used to go a lot. But I got tied up with a lot of things and just didn’t have spare time.”
“That’s understandable. How long have you been a fan?”
“Since I saw you guys win the cup in Chicago. Great game by the way,” I said smiling.
“You were there?!” Mario asked in excitement. I nodded. “How old were you?”
“Four. My dad had to move to Chicago for a year for work, so we went with him and got hooked on hockey. But when you guy faced them in the playoffs, I couldn’t stop but cheer for you guys.”
“That’s awesome,” Mario said with a bright smile. We hushed up as soon as the lights went down and they did the intro to the game. We cheered as the team flew out onto the ice and stood for the national anthem.
The game started and I started to get really into it. Mario was giving me high fives every time there was a power play or a great play. He ordered pizza for us and drinks. “How awesome is this, Mel?” I said taking a bite of the pizza.
“Pretty hot,” she said setting down her food. “Ooh! That game!” she said smiling. “Pretty good, I think Sid’s showing off a bit,” she grinned.
I rolled my eyes. “Shut up,” I laughed as he passed Tyler Kennedy the puck and he scored. We stood on our feet and cheered. There were only five minutes left, and the Penguins were leading the Coyotes 3-1. We won the game and I just couldn’t wait to get home and fall asleep after a long day.
“Thanks for everything Mario,” I said shaking his hand. “It was a pleasure meeting you and your family.”
“Same to you two,” he said shaking both of our hands. “This was the most fun I had at a game in a while.”
“I’m glad to hear that. Well, I’m going to say thanks to Sid and say bye.”
“Alright, hope to see you again sometime.” I said goodbye to the kids and Nathalie too. “Let’s go see that stud muffin,” I said with a grin to Mel.
“Thanks for taking me tonight Raina. It was awesome!”
“No problem,” I said smiling. “I wouldn’t want to take anyone else.” I texted Sidney to let him know I was heading out, and to my surprise, he texted back quickly.
Awesome! I’ll go out now before interviews.
“Excited to see your lover?” Mel said nudging my arm.
I blushed. “Mel, stop. I really don’t think I’m interested him. Yeah, he’s cute, sweet, all of that, but I-“
“Raina,” Mel said stopping me and holding my shoulders. “You can’t keep living the past. I understand you miss Justin, and think you shouldn’t see other people. But, don’t you think he would want to see you happy?”
I looked down at the ground. Would Justin mind seeing me with someone else? Would he want me to actually see other people, instead of living alone for the rest of my life? I started to tear up but tried to hold back. I didn’t want Sidney to see me like that.
“Common,” Mel said grabbing my hand. We saw Sidney walking toward the gate and I got random butterflies.
We met eye contact and I smiled. “Hey, girlies,” he said smiling. “Did you two have fun?”
“Yes!” I said smiling. “I can’t believe we had box seats with Mario Lemieux! Thank you so much, Sid.”
He blushed. “I’m happy you liked it. Mel, did you have a nice time?”
“Yeah man!” she yelled. “That was fucking sweet!”
Sidney laughed. And God, was it adorable! “Well, thanks guys for coming. It means a lot.”
“It was a blast, Sid. Thanks,” I said smiling. “So, Friday, right?”
“Yup, I’ll call you tomorrow night and tell you what’s up.”
“Okay. I’ll talk to ya later.”
Sidney pulled Mel into a hug and said good-bye and then held my hand and pulled me closer to him. He hugged me and kissed my cheek. “Good night, Raina.”
I blushed and smiled at him. Even though he smelled awful, and was dripping with sweat, I loved hugging his strong body. “Night, Sidney.”
